Nigerian media personality Taymesan has shared his personal struggles with trauma and abandonment issues stemming from his unconventional upbringing.
In an interview with Pulse Nigeria, Taymesan revealed that being raised by his grandmother, rather than his parents, led to feelings of insecurity and low self-esteem.
“I suffered from abandonment issues, I was very guarded and didn’t want to be seen by people… I started looking for mechanisms to protect myself,” he said.
Taymesan coped with his emotions through humor, becoming a “chronic people pleaser” to gain validation.
“Humour was one of the mechanisms I picked up in uni; I could make everybody laugh, but I used it to turn everyone away from me,” he explained.
This was an insightful read! It’s refreshing how openly Taymesan talks about such a sensitive topic. Do you think exploring therapy could help others dealing with similar issues? Keep up the great work.
