One of the final year students of the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) has killed himself after failing about three courses in the school.
According to reports, the failure implied that he would not have been able to go for the mandatory teaching practice exercise, and that would have ended his hopes of graduating with his colleagues.
The deceased, Ogunbanwo Emmanuel, is to have been found where he had hung himself by other concerned TASUED students but were to later to rescue him.
Benjamin, one of the young man’s friends, who took to his Facebook account to mourn him, wrote, “It’s a pity that we lost a loving friend like you. RIP Ogunbanwo Emmanuel. Even if you have 10 carry over, committing suicide isn’t the solution. You left like a coward, instead of you to stand and fight to the end. I and others are gonna miss you. Love you bro, love you Emmanuel.”
Despite the fact that the rate of depression in the country has suddenly increased in recent years, there has been no tangible record of suicidal deaths in TASUED before Emmanuel’s death and hopefully, the School Management would address the incidence soon.
