Nigeria Army soldiers killed three police officers and two civilians in the process of setting free, a notorious kidnapper in Taraba, Bala Hamisu also known as Wadume who had been arrested by the police operatives.

“We have been briefed by the bereaved family Inspector Mark Ediale to ensure that justice is done so that their son does not die in vain,” Femi Falana said in a text message to the Punch.

He revealed further that the family was pushing for the prosecution of the soldiers responsible for the murder of Ediale and his colleagues as well as damages which would be file in a separate civil suit.

Ediale’s police team came under attack from troops commanded by Captain Tijjani Balarabe on August 6, 2019 as they conveyed the arrested kidnap kingpin, Wadume.

Five police officers were also injured in the unprovoked attack.

The police filed Terrorism charges against Wadume as well as the soldiers and policemen involved in the murder of the officers.

The attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) however took over the case on June 3 and promptly struck out the names of the soldiers from the charges.
