The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Hakeem Odumosu says the state command has taken two students of Dowen College, Lekki into custody for allegedly assaulting late Sylvester Oromoni.
Since his death last week, 12-year-old Oromoni has been trending on social media.
His father had alleged that his son died from injuries sustained when some of his schoolmates beat him up, although the school claimed it was injuries sustained from playing football.
Many prominent politicians and celebrities, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have called for thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to his death.
Speaking on the case, Odumosu said that three of the students suspected to have beaten Oromoni have been taken into custody while two remain at large.
He said that the suspects in custody are helping the police in their investigation.

“It is still an allegation until we conduct our investigation. We just started full investigation yesterday (Monday). Two out of those mentioned in the viral video are at large while three of the students are helping us to get others.
“I am in contact with my counterpart in Delta State. I spoke with the parents yesterday, we are perfecting everything scientifically,” The Punch quoted the commissioner to have said.
