An 18-year-old, Babatunde Femi, on Monday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for alleged theft.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Monica Ikebuilo, told the court that Femi committed the offence on Dec.19, 2017 at 12, Basiri Street, Ado-Ekiti.
She said the accused unlawfully broke into the shop of one Sunday Nnabike and carted away shoes, clothes and belts, all valued at N440,000.
According to her, the offence contravenes Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Vol. 1, Laws of Ekti State, 2012.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty while his counsel, Mr Busuyi Ayorinde, prayed the court to grant him bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Dolapo Akosile, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till March 8 for further hearing.
