Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswan has rejected the results of the Benue North East senatorial election while calling for the removal of the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Professor Istifanus Dafwang.

Suswam who spoke to journalists on Tuesday in Makurdi alleged that the REC has been compromised.

He said “We are surprised that even when a result that was written on a mutilated paper was submitted to him, he admitted same even though we had cases where at Mbadede and Mbagbera where over 128,000 votes were not turned in, he went ahead to announce the results.

“Besides, we also had two cases where our result was burnt and another ceased by hoodlums, he insisted the result would be announced, but in a similar case at Buruku federal constituency, he ordered for a rerun.

“This clearly shows that the man has been compromised, and we demand that the Chairman of INEC, Prof Attahiru Jega, removed him from the state because we have no confidence in him to conduct the coming governorship elections.”
Suswam lost the election declared by INEC to Senator Barnabas Gemade.
