A member of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) in Ondo state has alleged that he was attacked by suspected Fulani herdsmen last weekend.
According to Sola Oguntade who is also an Okada Rider, he was attacked by the suspected herdsmen at the Araromi area of Oba-Ile, Akure, Ondo State.
He said he was working with his motorcycle along the Akure Airport road when he was attacked.
Recounting the ordeal to the media in Akure, another member of the OPC in Akure, Mr. Tosin Omotayo said the victim was flagged down by some of his assailants who happened to be Fulani men opposite the police area command office.
The men told the victim to convey them to Osi Junction at an agreed fee which they refused to pay on getting to their destination.
As the victim requested for his pay, cronies of his assailants came out of the bush and attacked..
“As he stopped to drop the herdsmen, and requested for payment, three others came out from the bush and attacked him” he said.
According to the OPC member, the victim was shot severally but the bullets failed to hit their mark. The assailants thereafter attacked the victim with wooden planks and sticks and escaped with his motorcycle as well as the day’s proceeds.
The suspected herdsmen left the victim for dead but he was discovered and rescued by hunters in the dead of night.
Omotayo said the victim was rushed to the hospital by members of the group as well as some police officers.
