A woman suspected of planning to kidnap a set of twins at Offa Garage in Illorin was brutally set ablaze by an angry mob in a case of jungle justice
The woman in question was suspected of trying to pick up another woman’s twins from an Arabic school in Kilanko. She tried picking the kids under the pretext that she had been sent by the mother. Unfortunately for her the mother was contacted by the school and quickly appeared and denied sending anybody to pick up the children.
An eyewitness told press that the incident attracted the attention of passersby. The passersby then marched the woman to Offa Garage. Efforts by residents around the school of trying to get the mob to hand the suspect over to the police were unsuccessful.
At about 11am the mob lynched the suspect, the charred remains of the lynched woman were still lying on the road when Kwara Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi spoke on the incident.
He said “Before we got the information, the deed had been done and as we speak, policemen are already there making efforts to arrest the culprits. “I can assure you we are going to do just that because it is lawless for people to take life of another human no matter the offence.”
The police spokesman, also, warned residents to desist from taking laws into their hands by not indulging in jungle justice.
