Suspected APC hoodlums smash AIT media vans (Photos)

2 Min Read

Political thugs suspected to be affiliated with the All Progressives Congress, have damaged two media vans containing millions of Naira in high tech equipment and belonging to African Independent Television.
SaharaReporters reports

The television station’s crew were in Ikere Ekiti, Ado Ekiti State, to transmit ‘Live’ coverage of the Labour Party’s (LP) Governorship Candidate, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele,  campaign rally.

The campaign rally was attended by party stalwarts, which included Governor Olusegun Mimiko, of the Ondo state, and the Party’s National Chairman, Mr. Dan Inwanyanwu.

The thugs brandished weapons, guns, and other weaponry, before descending on their targets, and made away with equipment, and other accessories belonging to the occupants of the vehicles.

Cameras, recording devices, including transmission gadgets belonging to the station were smashed, and badly destroyed.

SaharaReporters learned that the Television crew included reporters, cameramen, technical engineers, and drivers.

The vehicles that also accompanied the AIT crew, believed to be at least two cars, were also smashed, and badly damaged, said a source who was at the scene, and had told a SaharaReporters correspondent some moments after the incident.

It is not yet clear if the Television crew were actually targeted, or if they only fell victim to a random  attack.
