The Super Eagles of Nigeria in preparation for their African Cup of Nations qualifier against the Pharaohs of Egypt played against the U-23 side defeating them by 2-0. The U-23 side were doing some testing of their own with a friendly with Brazil on the horizon as they step up preparations for the Olympics in Brazil.
Samson Siasia’s men ran out 2 goal winners with goals from FC Ifeanyiubah’s Bright Onyedikachi and Wikki Tourists’ Godwin Obaje.
Egypt lead Group G of the qualifiers and are a great team with great players. The Super Eagles who lie 2 points behind them would be hoping to get past them when they clash later this month.
Only the winner of the group gets a ticket for the African footballing showcase, therefore Nigeria have a job on their hands to make sure they’re in the tournament.
Samson Siasia has opted to find a mix between competent home based players and some stardust with international players to make up his team.
One of the goalscorers Godwin Obaje has urged his teammates to get six points against the Egyptians. The first leg of the game will be played in Kaduna on the 25th of March with the reverse fixture coming up in Egypt on the 29th of the same month.
