Super Eagles forward, Simon Moses was on Tuesday rushed to hospital after suffering what appeared a severe injury.
The 22-year-old was playing in a practice match between his Belgian club Gent and German side Nuremberg when he sustained the injury in the 24th minute of the game.
Moses reportedly fell awkwardly to the ground during the game which Gent eventually win 1-0, sparking fears that he might have suffered a leg break.
Analysts say a leg break would have ruled him out of Russia 2018.
However, it has been confirmed that the player, who missed Nigeria’s friendly against Argentina in November, only suffered a serious leg wound.
“Good news about the situation of Moses Simon , who was injured during the practice match against Nuremberg. Photos showed a severe bruise, but no break” reported Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws late Tuesday night.
