William Trost-Ekong super eagles skipper against Poland has stated that he is encouraged that the team recorded a clean sheet against a top team like Poland, who created several scoring chances.
Nigeria, ranked 52nd in the world by FIFA, pipped hosts and sixth-ranked Poland 1-0 in a World Cup warm-up game on a chilly Friday night in Wroclaw.
They next face Serbia in London on Tuesday as they continue to prepare for the World Cup in June in Russia.
“It’s promising to see that we can organise a team – both Brian (Idowu) and Francis (Uzoho) made their full debuts – and keep a clean sheet regardless of the chances that they had,” Troost-Ekong said.
“It was a good day for us even though we were missing our captain Mikel Obi.
“We learnt a lot as well, where we have to improve, for the future.”
