The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, was left less than impressed by the comments of Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai about the Senators representing his state.
Recall that the governor had called the senators representing Kaduna state Useless after they stopped a proposed loan from the world bank to Kaduna, a loan that the governor stated would have helped many lives.
According to the Sultan, Rufai’s comments were an example of hate speech and were something to be avoided.
The Sultan said this during his address at the Annual Pre- Ramadan lectures organised by the Jama’atul Nasirul Islam, JNI, in Kaduna.
He added that the governor’s comments were distressing and that Kaduna’s politicians were to close ranks and support each other, especially through this turbulent period.
Also speaking at the event was the Secretary-General of JNI, Khalid Abubakar, who said that Musims were to adhere to the teachings of the great prophet.
Khalid also implored all those participating in the event to be vigilant due to the rise of suicide bombings in the country.
“The rise in bomb blasts in recent time is a wake-up call to the Ummah and the need for adequate vigilance cannot be overemphasized.
“Hence, our tafsir centres should be well equipped with security gadgets and personnel to man the control of people during tafsir sessions,” he said
