The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III has lamented the deplorable condition of the oil-rich city of Warri, saying a city of such wealth should be among the best in the world.
The traditional ruler spoke recently at a ceremony to mark the 3rd anniversary of the coronation of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli.
Meanwhile, the Sultan lauded the Itsekiri monarch for promoting peace among his neighbours, noting that Olu has become a strong advocate of unity among Nigerians since ascending to the throne.
The Sultan stated that as traditional rulers, they would continue to promote peace in their various kingdoms, and pleaded with the electorate to use their votes to elect conscientious leaders.
The Sultan flayed successive governments for causing poverty in the land through bad governance, and urged Nigerians to be guided by the promises of politicians ahead of the general polls in choosing their leaders.
