Gabriella Georgescu, a 43-year-old mother attempted to jump in front of an oncoming subway train with her 9-year-old daughter, in Middletown, New York on Friday.
According to police reports, Georgescu was ranting about the suicide attempt she had planned as she stood close to the edge of the platform at 59th St.and Lexington Ave just before 5pm.
Passengers who were alarmed at her behavior heard her threats to take her life and an MTA worker alerted the police.A police officer arrived to find Georgescu, leaning near the gap as a northbound 6 train rolled into the station.
The officer arrested her and took the little daughter who had bruises on her back to the City Administration for Child’s Services. The bruises on the little girl’s body showed signs of her being abused.
Georgescu, who is believed to have been visiting a relation as at the time she was arrested, was taken to Bellevue Hospital in New York, to be evaluated, authorities said.
Police say she will be charged for reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of the child.
