The rape ordeal and recovery testimony shared by Lotanna Igwe-Odunze, a blogger and creative artist commonly referred to as Sugabelly has caused a ripple effect across the psyche of other Nigerian women affected by rape, and predatory relationships. Many of such women are coming forward with their testimony, although some women do not have the level of uncommon courage exhibited by Sugabelly.
Comments moderated by The Herald n a blog post on Sisi Yemmie’s blog has unearthed a haunting rape experience. The poster who remained anonymous described a series of terrifying sexual assaults that led to abortion and other destabilizing and pscychological impacts over a few years. The poster said the incidents began when she was a teenager dating an older guy and it was until she shared the incident with older room mates when she was admitted in university, before she was finally able to break free.
