England striker Daniel Sturridge who has spent much of the summer rehabilitating in the United States in a bid to end his fitness woes is now ready to take part in first-team training again.
It represents a remarkable recovery, with initial forecasts suggesting he would be out until October.
However, it is hugely unlikely Sturridge will feature in Liverpool’s trip to Manchester United on Saturday. Reds boss Brendan Rodgers had previously insisted he would not rush back the 26-year-old.
After his partnership with Luis Suarez propelled Liverpool to within a stud’s length of the Premier League title in 2013/14, the striker came back to earth with a nasty bump last campaign as he made just 12 top-flight appearances.
