Burundi has lost its 55yr old Strongman, President Pierre Nkurunziza to cardiac arrest according to Government news sources.
Government officials say Nkurunziza died on June 8 and declared seven days of mourning for the late President.
The late strongman of Burundi, ruled the country for 15 years and attempted to run for a third term in office. His ambition nearly tore the country apart before elections were held on May 22.
Unconfirmed reports say the President died of COVID-19 and not Cardiac Arrest as being reported in official quarters.
Nkurunziza had been in the news for his handling of the virus in the country as well as his health which was said to have deteriorated rapidly in the last few weeks.

His wife was also flown to Nairobi, Kenya for medical reasons which many say is related to the COVID-19 infection.
Late President Nkurunziza was on the verge of handing over to his successor President elect, former general Evariste Ndayishimiye who was declared winner in the May Presidential election held in Burundi despite the prevalence of COVID-19.
