Why We Stopped Omoni Oboli From Premiering New Movie, Okafor’s Law – Raconteur Poductions

2 Min Read

The management of Raconteur productions which filed a lawsuit against Nigerian actres, Omoni Oboli over her upcoming movie, Okafor’s Law, has revealed its reasons for taking such drastic step.

Recall that Raconteur Productions had secured a court injunction against the actress which forced her to shut down the movie premiere which was earlier slated for Friday.

Explaining its reason for filing a lawsuit against Omoni Oboli, Dioni Visions & Filmone Limited which holds that the actress infringed on writer, Jude Idada’s rights and stole his intellectual property, the media house has released an official statement which reads:

“On behalf of the board of directors of Raconteur Productions, we would like to shed light on our case with the defendants, Omoni Oboli, Dioni Visions & Filmone Limited.

The events of yesterday though unfortunate was our only option to prevent the ongoing abuse of our intellectual property. Several attempts were made to bring the parties to the discussion table. Three weeks ago, they received a formal demand letter but chose to ignore it and instead tried to intimidate us into abandoning our case.

Our decision to seek legal redress is not a selfish one, the industry has been plagued with similar issues and in taking this stand, we hope that we speak for all established and aspiring creatives who are struggling to get their voice heard.

Victory in this will be victory for the industry and will foster a safer environment for the sharing of ideas.

Thank you
