The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Titus Uba, has vowed that no amount of bribery would make the 22 lawmakers backing Governor Samuel Ortom work against the state.
The speaker made this known in the state capital, Makurdi on Tuesday.
He added that the suspended eight lawmakers in the state would be forgiven for their recent misdeeds if they showed remorse.
Recall that the eight lawmakers had served an impeachment notice on Ortom following his defection to the PDP.
However, Uba assured that the suspension of the eight lawmakers would be lifted if they show remorse, retract their negative comments and promise to work with the rest of the House to move the state forward.
He reminded the eight lawmakers of the oath they took to prioritise the welfare of the people of Benue and stated that the best way to achieve such is to work in harmony.

He said, “To the best of my knowledge , this type of thing has never happened in this country, where a speaker would be impeached and those in majority still give speakership to the minority.
“This has now clearly shown that power in this state has become a struggle , we are not looking at acronyms , or sentiments.
“But , we are looking at how we can come together to save the soul of Benue State . ”
He added, “The 22 members on my side are intact , and nothing on this earth is going to shake us .”
However, he maintained that the suspended lawmakers remained a part of the assembly and would be welcomed once they do the needful.
“We are also still in talking terms with the other eight members , and some of them are already making advances to come back and join us , instead of taking us to the other side.
“But if you paint something black and you want to brighten it , you must use white paint to clean it .”
