Speaking recently on Hip TV, Legendary Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem admonished musicians who showcase drugs and explicitly dressed women in their videos. He said:
“I was watching a video the other day and I saw a scene where cocaine was being showcased. Africans don’t need that in their videos. Just because the artiste went to shoot in America doesn’t mean he should adopt their way of doing things. He should go and ask Majek Fashek.
I mean, our kids cannot watch that video, what are they supposed to learn? As an artist you should be able to impact people’s lives positively with your talent.
Going further, he also asked our artists to explore other concepts when shooting their videos instead of just showing scantily clad women all the time.
