After five years of absence from the Champions League, Liverpool returned this year to face a rather competitive Group B.
They won at home against Ludogorets but lost away to Basel.
As the champions league returns this Wednesday, the Reds are faced with a bigger threat, having to play defending champions Real Madrid.
Madrid have been in an extremely impressive form since the beginning
of the season.
Notwithstanding, captain Steven Gerrard has charged his teammate to be up to the task ahead,
“I think every player in the dressing room realises that we can’t have any passengers against opposition of Real Madrid’s quality or we will
get beat convincingly,” he said.
The England international have a better experience playing against Real Madrid; he scored two goals in Liverpool’s 4 – 0 victory over the
Spanish side the last time the two met in 2009.
“We are playing against the best side in Europe and the message to the players is simple. We need an A performance,” he said
