Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted he could leave the club in the summer if he is not offered a new deal.
The Liverpool legend is closing in on 700 appearances in all competitions for the Anfield club and will be out of contract at the end of the season and says that talks about an extension are yet to begin.
He told the Daily Mail: “I’m only contracted until May. As it stands, I’m here until the end of the season and want to make the most of it.
“I certainly won’t be retiring this summer. I will play beyond this season.
“We’ll have to wait and see if that’s at Liverpool or some where else.
“That’s Liverpool’s decision. If they don’t come then I will see what’s out there.”
He has played every minute in the Premier League for Liverpool this season and was important to the team in their successful campaign last season.
