Super Eagles retained the little hope for qualifying for the AFCON 2015 when they defeated Sudan 3 – 1 at the Abuja stadium yesterday.
Goals from CSKA Moscow forward Ahmed Musa and China-based Aaron Samuel gave the Eagles their much needed victory and they leaped to the third place in their Group.
Despite the come back, Stephen Keshi was sacked after the match to be immediately replaced by Amodu Shuaibu who will take on the two remaining matches between Congo and South Africa.
After the match at Abuja, NFF had an emergency meeting of it’s executives and decided “in the interest of Nigeria football and the desire to ensure qualification for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations” that Keshi and his back-room coaches Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shoronmu be “relieved of their duties with immediate effect.”
Salisu Yusuf, Gbenga Ogunbote and Alloy Agu were also appointed to assist coach Amodu to ensure Nigeria’s win in the final two games of the qualifying series.
We learnt Keshi and his consortium of coaches were offered incentives by NFF to take up any coaching course of their choice in any country.
