A former Director of National Youth Service Corps, Mrs Martha Midala, has advised corps members against involvement in sexual scandals, drug abuse and other criminal activities during the service year.
Midala gave the advice on Thursday while giving a motivational talk to Batch B Corp members of the 2018 service year during their orientation at Damare Camp, near Yola.
“My dear grand children, stay away from sexual scandals, drug abuse, cultism and other youth-related criminal activities.”
Midala also urged the corps members to consciously establish and sustain good relationships with members of communities where they would be posted for primary assignment.
She said the corp members needed to draw closer to their host communities and opinion leaders to enable them to effectively contribute their quota in building the community.
In another development, the corps members also staged a low-keyed cultural carnival.
Declaring the carnival open, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed, advised that the camp events should not be with the usual pomp and pageantry due to the mourning period for the nine corps members that drowned in neighbouring Taraba State. (NAN)
