Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has disagreed with President Muhammadu Buhari’s position on state police.
Recall that President Buhari said during a recent interview that “state police is not an option“, attracting criticism from many stakeholders across the country.
Speaking during an Arise TV interview on Thursday, Kalu, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said his views did not align with the president’s on the matter.
The former Abia governor said, “Even when I was governor, I’ve always believed that we should have state police. I don’t have the same opinion with the president (Mr Buhari) on state police.”
He added, “I’ve always believed that if we have a bill or an act that can convince the Assembly with the constitution, why not.”
