State Assembly, Governorship Elections to Hold March 2 – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the date for state assembly and governorship elections across the country.

This announcement was made by the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, who said that the Area Council elections in FCT will hold on March 2, 2019, alongside the governorship and state Assembly elections,

He announced further that the list of candidates standing for elections will be published in its Federal Capital Territory office as well as the six Area Councils on Wednesday, 21st November, 2018.

The announcements were made during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners at the Commission’s Conference Room, INEC Headquarters, Abuja, on Wednesday.

The INEC Chairman said further that the general public should check the personal details of the chairmanship and councilorship candidates that seek to represent them.

INEC’s announcement has set in motion the wheels for the 2019 election season even as the ban on political campaigns was lifted on Sunday.
