The biological father of the two brothers who bombed themselves alongside some other innocent individuals on Easter Sunday has been arrested on the grounds that he helped the terrorists plan the attack.
According to Jayanath Colombage, a former Navy officer who now works as a counter-terrorism expert at a Sri Lankan institute, Pathfinder Foundation, the father was nabbed in his isolated residence.
He is said to be a wealthy trader who sells spice and has made a fortune from it, so much that he lives in the exclusive neighborhood of Colombo.
His sons, Inshaf and Ilham Ibrahim, infiltrated the Shangri-La and Cinnamon Grand Hotels without being noticed by anyone and subsequently detonated explosives they had wrapped around themselves to blow up guests who were having their breakfast at the time.
While investigations are still going on, it has been confirmed that a total of 41 foreigners which included 8 tourists from the UK, lost their lives in the attack.
The police then swung into action some hours later to track down the relatives of the bombers. But Ilham’s wife who was prepared for such invasion blew herself up alongside her children three kids and three other officers around her.
