The media officer of the Super Eagles, Toyin Ibitoye, has dismissed as untrue rumours making the rounds that there was a rift between assistant managers of the team – Jean Francoise Loscuito and Salisu Yusuf – in the absence of ailing manager Sunday Oliseh.
Rumours had it that the two assistant managers had fallen out as a result of a leadership tussle between them in the team’s CHAN training camp in Abuja.
While Oliseh chose Loscuito as his second in command, Yusuf, who has coached Kano Pillars and Enyimba, is believed to have a better understanding of the domestic league and the players.
Since the competition the team is preparing for requires the services of players in the domestic league, pundits said Yusuf had expected to be given charge of the team ahead of loscuito.
However, Ibitoye has debunked claims of a rift between the assistant managers, saying: “There is no rift between the coaches. I don’t know where these stories are coming from, because they have been working together very well.”
