One of the Aspirants of Speaker of the Eight House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has set up a 36 Man Mobilisation Committee to woo state caucuses across the 36 states of the federation including the FCT.
Gbajabiamila, who is currently the Minority Leader in the House assured the Legislators of his intention to fully fulfil the promises made to them in a bid to redefine representation in the coming Eight House of Reps.
Hon. Rufai Chanchangi (Kaduna), Hon. Abdullahi Balarabe Silame (Sokoto), Hon. Khadijah Ibrahim (Yobe), Hon. Baderinwa White (Ondo) and Hon. Peter Akpatason (Edo) are among his campaigners.
Gbajabiamila has several challengers, his challengers include the Chairman, Committee on House Services, Mr. Yakubu Dogara (All Progressives Congress, Bauchi); Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Constituency Outreach, Mr. Pally Iriase (APC, Edo); Chairman, Committee on Agriculture, Mr. Mohammed Monguno (Borno, APC) and Chairman, Committee on Finance, Mr. Abdulmumin Jibrin (APC, Kano).
In a document attached to his Letter of Intent, he promised the 360 members-elect of his readiness to ensure transparency and accountability in all the legislative matters of the House and equitable distribution of committees and chairing opportunities.
He also promised adequate Federal presence in all constituencies.
Last week, according to Thisday, 194 members in support of Gbajiabimila met in Protea Hotel, Asokoro.
Chairman of the Committee on House Services, Yakubu Dogara another contender for the speakership position also addressed the press last week, where he stated that his aspiration represents the interest of the poorly developed North-east.
