Lawmakers in the Ondo State House of Assembly have impeached the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jumoke Akindele and Deputy speaker, Hon. Fatai Olotu.
Sources confirmed that the impeachment was carried out by 18 of the House Lawmakers who appended their signature to the notice of Impeachment.
Following the Impeachment of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, the Lawmakers have also elected Hon. Iroju Ogundeji representing Odigbo loca government as the new Speaker while Hon. Ayo Arowele from Owo local government was elected as the new deputy speaker of the House.
The reason behind the Speaker and Deputy Speaker’s Impeachment is however yet unknown as reports have it that the Impeachment exercise held at one of the Lawmakers’ quarters at about 10:00 pm on Tuesday evening.
Speaking with news agency, DAILY POST, a lawmaker who preferred to remain anonymous was quoted to have said; “I will talk to you later. The speaker has been impeached. But I can’t give you the whole gist. We will talk tomorrow”
