Sowore carpets LASU over Tinubu’s 2023 campaign posters inside convocation hall

1 Min Read

Founder of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore has berated the management of Lagos State University (LASU) over a 2023 presidential campaign poster of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu pasted inside the institution’s convocation hall.

Sowore, a 2019 presidential candidate, said the presence of the campaign poster “desecrated” the convocation grounds.

The activist stated this in a Facebook post on Thursday while sharing a photo showing the poster conspicuously placed inside the hall.

According to him, the Vice Chancellor and management of the institution ought to resign over the alleged bastardisation of the university environment.

Sowore wrote, “Lagos State University (LASU) Convocation grounds desecrated! This is not what an academic environment ought to be. LASU Vice Chancellor and the management of the university should resign, I know the visitor (Gov. Sanwoolu) can’t act because he caused this rubbish due to political desperation.

“No university should brazenly bastardize its environment like this.”

A popular journalist and socio-political commentator, Mr Jimi Disu aligned with Sowore, describing the act as “shameful”.

Sharing a screenshot of Sowore’s post on Twitter, Disu wrote: “I stand with Sowore on this! Shameful!!!”
