Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Mallam Garba Shehu has urged the media to exercise patience with the National Assembly to get details of the 2016 Budget presented by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Shehu reportedly said “When the National Assembly returns from recess, the lawmakers will be given the full estimates of the budget, including what is voted for each department, ministries and agencies. What is voted for the State House will also be included.
“Some of these figures being quoted are strange to us.”
There have been news reports quoting the breakdown of the budget presented to the National Assembly on December 29.
Highlights of the budget include Recurrent expenditure slashed to 70%, a deficit of N1.8 trillion to be financed by domestic and foreign borrowings.
Last week, it was also reported that the Presidency intents to spent about N4.1 billion naira on Cars and Tyres and thatN1.4 billion has been allocated to presidential travels.
