A former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Charles Soludo, along with other high profile Igbo leaders including Pat Utomi have called for the release of leader of the Indegenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu.
This was said while addressing journalists. Kanu has been incarcerated on charges of treason and so far has yet to be released.
Soludo said that the continued detention of Mr. Kanu is an abuse of his right to ‘legitimate agitation” adding that Nigeria will be unable to thrive if free speech is not protected.
The Igbo leaders also slammed the Federal Government for failing to obey court rulings that don’t go their way stating that such a stance will not in any way help the peace of the nation.
