Suspected bandits numbering hundreds have invaded a military camp in Allawa, Shiroro local government area of Niger state, killing an unspecified number of soldiers, Vanguard reported.
At least 10 others were reportedly abducted in the attack on the camp which contained the Joint Security Task Force comprising of the Army, Police, Civil Defence and Vigilantes.
An officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) reportedly lost his life in the attack, just as the assailants were said to have abducted no fewer than 10 persons.
Furthermore, many security personnel were said to have been hurt in the attack which lasted from Wednesday night into the wee hours of Thursday.

Besides Allawa, other communities attacked in the council were Manta, Gurmana and Bassa.
President, Shiroro Youth Movement, Mohammed Sani Idris, confirmed the attack, disclosing that the attack commenced from Wednesday night and ended in the early hours of Thursday.
He said that the bandits numbering hundreds rode motorcycles and wielded AK-47 rifles.
According to him, the bandits operated for more than five hours unchallenged.
“During the invasion, they killed one Alhaji Sale in Madalla community under Bassa ward and kidnapped four people and went away with two motorcycles.
“Also in Kokki Boddo a community under Gurmana ward, they abducted six persons and took away five motorcycles, five people were also kidnapped in Manta ward,” he disclosed.
