Veteran Nollywood actress Sola Sobowale has finally addressed the long-standing rumors surrounding her alleged arrest and death in Saudi Arabia for drug trafficking.
During a recent episode of the ‘King of Talk’ podcast with Teju Babyface, Sobowale revealed that she was shocked to learn about the negative reports published in Nigeria after she moved to the United Kingdom to work in menial jobs.
According to Sobowale, one of the most disturbing rumors claimed that she was killed in Saudi Arabia for drug trafficking, and that her leg and hand were amputated. She clarified that she has never been to Saudi Arabia and does not even know where it is on the map.
The 58-year-old actress expressed her gratitude to God for compensating her despite the negative rumors and challenges she faced. She also opened up about prioritizing her children’s future over her lucrative acting career, which earned her over N5 million in the early 2000s.
Sobowale shared her experience of leaving her comfortable life in Nigeria to work in menial jobs in England, including cleaning and caregiving. She emphasized that her children are her future, and she wanted to secure their well-being above her own career success.
