A 14-man panel set up by the Kano State Government to investigate allegations of sodomy among students and teachers at the Hassan Gwarzo College has found the school culpable.
The case was blown open after some parents complained in October that their children were violated while on the school premises.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the weekly Kano Executive Council meeting Thursday evening, the State Commissioner for Information, Comrade Muhammad Garba, said the panel has submitted its report and the school was found culpable.
He said the government, based on this report, had already directed the continued closure of the college pending the outcome of security reports.

Also, he stated that the state government had already directed that all final year students should be transferred to other schools for their exams.
Mr. Garba assured that serious measures would be taken against anybody found wanting after the release of the State Security Service and police investigative reports.

When contacted by The Herald, some of the parents of the victims said they were happy with the outcome of the panel, and hope that government should make an example of any body found guilty.
A mother of one of victims who pleaded anonymity said the affected parents would like to see those involved punished and compensation paid to all those hurt.
“This is what we want because they have already injured our children,” she said.
