Social media reacts as Tory Lanez’s prosecuted for Megan Thee Stallion shooting

2 Min Read

The trial of Canadian rapper, Tory Lanez for the alleged shooting of Megan Thee Stallion in 2020 is currently unsettling social media.

Tory Lanez was in 2020 charged by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office with assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.

A fresh charge of discharging a firearm with gross negligence was added to the mix last week.

Tory Lanez, 30, faces up to 22 years in prison if convicted in the trial that commenced on Monday.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In the prosecution’s opening statement on Monday, Deputy District Attorney, Alexander Bott, told jurors that Megan Thee Stallion’s former friend, Kelsey Harris, would testify that she witnessed Tory Lanez shoot Megan.

“Kelsey will tell you that she just saw her close friend get shot by the defendant,” Bott said.

He added that Harris would also tell them that defendant physically assaulted her.

According to the Deputy DA, Lanez shot Megan in the feet from a car while shouting, “Dance, Bitch!”

Taking to the stand on Tuesday, Megan admitted initially lying to the police about the incident, telling them she stepped on glass.

Megan said that she initially lied to police because she didn’t think the “big boy’s club” music industry would believe her.

Since the trial began, music fans have been taking to social media to react to the proceedings.
