Social Media Influencer, Arrested Again for Drug Possession in Cyprus

A popular Nigerian social media influencer, Uduak Emmanuel popularly known as @Uduakisbae on Twitter, has been arrested for possession of illicit drugs in Cyprus for the second time in less than one year.

The female Nigerian influencer was arrested just a few days after flaunting new gadgets she bought online including a car. She promised to pepper more people by buying more things during the prevailing Covid-19 lockdown.

She was first arrested in November, 2019 for possession of 3 grams of illegal drugs by police in Cyprus where she is supposedly a student.

This time, Uduak who said she was living her best life, was arrested alongside a Nigerian male accomplice with 17 grams of illegal drugs.

The duo were said to have also attempted to sell illegal drugs to the Cyprus department of Narcotics and anti-Smuggling .

Uduak Emmanuel and Onuwa Kachikwu were both arrested on May 6, and charged with receiving, selling and storing illicit drugs.

The police told the court that the duo were attested for importing an unlawful drug, ‘Indochina’ which was recovered from the suspects.

Cannabis type drugs, $3,750, €400, 50 Stg, 1100 TL cash, and a wrapped cigarettes, all believed to be proceeds of drug sales were confiscated by the police and presented as evidence.

8 grams of cannabis type drugs wrapped in five separate foil papers, were also found in a vehicle belonging to the Nigerian influencer.

The police stated that the suspects were cooperating with investigators to name other accomplices in the drug smuggling ring and would be detained for five days according to the provisions of Cyprus law.
