A medical practitioner in Osun, Dr Kayode Oyebode has warned smokers in the country against smoking in order to avoid avoid lung and liver cancer.
During an interview with News Agency of Nigeria, Oyebode said prolonged smoking could lead to heart and lung cancer.
He said “smokers willing to quit should visit hospital for check-up in order to know the level of damage done to their heart and lung.’’
He urged the government to sensitise people on the dangers of smoking. He also insisted that health sector should educate, inform and sensitise the public on the dangers of smoking because many people were ignorant of its dangers.
