An early morning report from Bratislava (Slovakia), said Slovakian police injured a Syrian woman when they opened fire on a group of migrants as they attempted to flee in a car.
It said customs police ordered four cars carrying migrants to stop early Monday for a control at Velky Meder, south-east of Bratislava, and near the border with Hungary, but one of the drivers attempted to flee.
It said police have refused to comment.
Meanwhile, a spokesman from a nearby hospital confirmed that a 26-year-old woman from Syria involved in the shootout is in stable condition after surgery.
She said a bullet was extracted from her back.
Slovakian authorities said earlier that smugglers of Germany-bound migrants were looking for a path through Slovakia and the Czech.
