Skincare is very vital for every human, both for men and women. The one importance of proper application of skincare is the healthy radiation of your skin, as well as application of products such as sunscreen protects your skin from the harshness of the sun.
Let’s not also forget how certain products address certain skincare concerns. The goal with skincare is to not have a glass skin (which isn’t bad), but to have a “healthy” skin. Your skin can come with acnes, but that doesn’t make it any less healthier.
Often times, people complain that skincare doesn’t seem to care— while it can be normal in some cases, where for the female gender there’s a phase where the skin suddenly acts up, there can also be instances where we as individuals, are architects of our skincare failures. How? Here’s how!
1. You’re not applying correctly
I know you want to manage things, you have panned out how your sunscreen will last you for four months; but do you stop to think that maybe, your skin’s not getting any better because you’re not applying a considerate amount?
You don’t even apply sunscreen all the time, or do your morning and night routine religiously. Yet, you’ll complain that your skin “doesn’t care”. This writer doesn’t know how it’s supposed to care, when you’re not being considerate with its usage. Use that skincare products religiously, another money will come to buy another one. Your skin has to skin!
2. You’re not listening to your skin
You do realize our skins speak to us? Here’s how! Using a product for oily skin on a dry skin, will result in your face getting drier and that leads to lesser of hydration. Or dry product for an oily skin; you’ll probably step out into the sun and end up looking like you got drowned in hot oil. When making a purchase for skincare, always ensure the product you’re getting is right and suitable for your skin type. Consult a dermatologist, get a product that caters for all skin type, probably hope that whatever you’re getting is right for you, or better still do a patch test. Depends on your pocket anyways.
3. Skincare is expensive, but they’re worth it in the long run
We all know how skincare products are expensive, while expensive doesn’t mean good; we’re imploring you to rightfully invest in proper skincare products. With no disregard to any skincare products, there is the need to make a purchase that’s worth it, so your skin will thank you in the long run. We’re not saying splurge, just get what is right; could be cheap anyways.
4. You’re probably using fake products
As Nigerians living in Nigeria, we’re often guilty of purchasing fake products, not because we like them, but because they’re “cheaper”. We don’t know how to know if a skincare product is fake or not, but always do due diligence before making a purchase; so your skin doesn’t get worse. Make purchase from certified stores that sell original products; who knows? You might even save money in the end.
5. You’re most likely skipping a step
We’re all guilty of this one. Our inconsistency with our skincare routines sometimes cause our skin to not even care about how much care we’re giving it.
You’re skipping sunscreen, the very vital part of your skincare application and you expect hyperpigmentation to not come knocking on your door? Or you’re being stingy with your serum and toner application because “I want it to last me for five months”; there’s no way your discoloration would attempt to fade.
Most importantly, it’s necessary to appreciate the condition of your skin. Self love is very vital, as that is the only way to pay close attention to your skin’s condition, and tick all boxes in terms of skincare appropriation.
