Disheartening: Six-Week-Old Baby Loses Life To Coronavirus

A six-week-old baby has died as a result of the deadly coronavirus infection.

 

According a report by APF, the Governor of Connecticut, Ned Lamont, said that the six-week-old baby  is believed to be the youngest patient to die from the deadly coronavirus disease.

 

According to a tweet by Governor Ned Lamont, the newborn was “brought unresponsive to a hospital late last week and could not be revived.”

 

“Testing confirmed last night that the newborn was COVID-19 positive,”

 

“This is absolutely heartbreaking. We believed this is one of the youngest lives lost anywhere due to complications relation to COVID-19.”

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has said that using face masks as preventive measure against coronavirus spread in Nigeria may become mandatory.

 

This Day reports that the director-general, Chikwe Ihekweazu, disclosed that the federal government is considering the use of face mask to fight against the spread of the global pandemic, Coronavirus,  in the country.

 

Ihekweazu also noted that although the use of face masks for persons other than health workers has not approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO), the agency is nevertheless considering the usage as the incessant increase of the virus may necessitate its usage, however subject to certain factors.

 

Ihekweazu said:

“This is a strategy we need to think about before we implement it. Before we implement a national strategy around mask wearing, we have to be sure we can provide it or at least enable access to it.”
