The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Shehu Sani, has proffered solutions to the menace of vote buying and selling in the Nigerian polity.
The vocal senator made his assertions known in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Friday evening.
The Herald recalls that vote buying was said to have been perpetrated on a massive scale during the July 14 gubernatorial election in Ekiti and the just-concluded gubernatorial election in Osun.
Also, the recent bye-election in Kogi State reportedly witnessed the menace of vote buying, with voters being induced with N2,000 to vote for a particular candidate.

Sani, who is also President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria (CRCN), said that vote buying and selling could only be ended with a six-step approach.
He said, “Six steps to end vote buying and selling: End poverty, track campaign finance, prosecute ‘Big offenders’, Establish Election Offences and other Related Crime commision, Mass sensitisation and advocacy against ‘material politics’, and Introduce whistle blower remuneration policy.”
