Singer Jaywon Reveals Why SARS Operatives were at His Party

3 Min Read

Nigerian Singer, Iledare Oluwajuwonlo, also known as Jaywon, has revealed why SARS operatives were at his birthday party in Lekki.

In an interview with Sunday Scoop, the artiste said that contrary to reports circulating on Social media, the SARS operatives weren’t there for him. He said, “It was a media friend that had issues with them. After identifying himself, they still wanted to take him away. I was upstairs when my attention was called to the incident and I quickly came down.”

He added that he had to step in as he did not want the reporter taken away “You know police will want to harass and threaten you with their guns. We all came together and made sure they didn’t leave the place with the guy. I actually don’t know what the journalist did to them but it created a lot of noise and drama.” he said.

He said he was surprised when he saw reports that his party had been stormed by SARS officials and that he was the target.

“I had the party in a private house and I had promised them we would not make any noise. I was not happy with the way things ended because it was supposed to be a quiet party. I visited two motherless babies’ homes that same day and I wanted my birthday to be about that.” he said.

He also complained that the SARS official, as usual, wanted to extort him but that he was unwilling to pay them; “I still tweeted about the operation of SARS some days ago. Arresting people has become a business venture right now. They know that once they arrest you, you will give them money. It is getting frustrating and no one is doing anything about it.

“It is so bad on Lagos Island now, Lekki precisely.  We were much; so, there was no way the four of them could attack us.  We cannot be giving them money every time. If people keep giving them money, they will never stop harassing people. It was obvious that they wanted money, but I was not ready to give anyone money,” he said.
