A family has been left in shock after the father got an anonymous “assassination letter” and immediately confided in a friend, who was later discovered to have sent the letter.
A Twitter user, @Ms_Bibitayo disclosed this in a series of tweets on Tuesday.
She said that her father received the threat letter, which instructed him to pay a certain amount of money or risk being killed.
According to her, the family involved the police in the matter and an investigation was launched.
During the course of investigations, it was discovered that one of the first people he told was actually the person that wrote the letter to extort him.
She wrote: “A few weeks back, my Dad received what I call an “assassination letter”. He was asked to pay a certain amount of money or risk being killed. We involved the police and just found out the threat came from a close family friend. It be your own people.
“The funny thing is that when my Dad received the threat, the man was amongst the first set of people my Dad told.”
