Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West are bringing home their third child.
TMZ sources confirmed the news back in September that the superstar couple would be adding to their family thanks to a surrogate. THE HERALD sources confirm the surrogate gave birth to the baby on Jan. 16, adding that the baby is “healthy.”
Kim had been vocal about wanting a third child, but is unable to give birth again due to medical concerns that are so serious she could die if she were to get pregnant again.
In July, Us Weekly reported that the couple’s surrogate is a San Diego mom in her late 20s, who they found through a surrogate agency.
The as-yet-unnamed baby girl arrived on Monday and weighed 7lb 6oz. In a statement on Kim’s official page the star expressed her happiness and gratitude.
“Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl,” she wrote. “We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care. North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”
The decision to use a surrogate was spurred by a condition called placenta accreta which led to complications during the birth of the pair’s second child, Saint.
“Anyone that says or thinks it is just the easy way out is just completely wrong,” Kardashian said on Entertainment Tonight last year. “I think it is so much harder to go through it this way, because you are not really in control.”
West has been out of the spotlight since the end of his Saint Pablo tour, while Kardashian continues to star in the reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
The couple are already parents to North, 4, and Saint, 2 and it won’t be the last of the Kardashians because both Kylie Jenner and Khloe Kardashian are reportedly due in the coming months.
