Ali Modu Sheriff who is the ousted National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has succeeded in being declared the rightful national chairman and also getting the PDP national convention slated for August cancelled by the court.
In a ruling by a federal high court judge, Justice Abang said that the May 21st convention held where Sheriff was ousted was unconstitutional.
“The convention was unlawfully held and the caretaker committee was unlawfully constituted. If the Markarfi-led faction, as an apostle of impunity, missed its way to the Port Harcourt division of the FHC, the court cannot be said to have acted within its legal jurisdiction in entertaining the matter,” he said.
Abang also said that the August convention would have sought to elect new members which it will now be unable to do since the convention has been stopped by the court.
