The Nassarawa state commissioner of Police, Bola Longe has confirmed that the All Progressive Congress Party (APC) Chairman, Philip Shekwo’s killers might have been hired assassins and not kidnappers as was earlier speculated.
He made this known while speaking to Journalists few hours after Shekwo was reportedly found dead within the vicinity of his residential area.
According to CP Longe, the abductors while trying to gain forceful entrance into the late Chairman’s house were met with serious resistance from security men.
“Intensive effort to gain entrance into the APC chairman’s house was resisted by security men. Those who killed him were not kidnappers and where we saw his dead body is too close to his house”, he said.
Taking note of his suspicions, Longe said, “Within a twinkling of an eye, the man was killed. No ransom was demanded I think his killers were assassins”.
Longe further declared that the police command would begin a thorough investigation to reveal those behind the killing.
“Those behind Philip Tatari Shekwo’s killing would be brought to book to face the full wrath of the law in the state”, he said.
