Sheikh Gumi: I can’t defend Tinubu’s govt because I’m not in govt – Fani-Kayode

A former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has said that he is not concerned about Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi’s “rantings” against the government since he is not in government and not being paid to defend it.

Fani-Kayode, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said this in an audiotape he released on his Facebook page on Sunday.

The controversial ex-minister released the audiotape after Gumi’s controversial sermon reported here.

In the sermon, Sheikh Gumi called FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike a “satanic person” over alleged planned collaboration with Israel for the security of the federal capital.

The controversial cleric, who claimed that Muslims would be victimised should the FCT and Israel collaborate, equally stressed that it was dangerous to entrust Nigeria’s national security to the hands of Christians and Southerners.

Reacting, Fani-Kayode said, “I am not too concerned about the rantings of this little monkey against the government because there are many people that are in government that are paid to respond to him and handle that, and I am not in government.

“However, I am concerned about his rantings against the Christian community and against what I believe to be Southerners generally, both Christian and Muslim.”
